Hürth, Germany - 13th November 2012
The future of engineering relies on both new talent and established organisations supporting and nurturing their ambitions. The Speeding Scientists Siegen and Caterham Composites today formally announce the development of a carbon-fibre monocoque for the s3racing team. Caterham Composites, a division of the Caterham Group and the Speeding Scientists Siegen, a formula student racing team, will work together on the monocoque for the electric race car 2014.
The Speeding Scientists presented their concept and ideas to the engineers at Caterham Composites. But it was their passion and willingness to learn that convinced us to help them develop a carbon monocoque for the 2014 race season. We are an ideas business and we strongly believe in creative thinking and supporting the next generation of engineers, project leaders and CTOs. As experts in unrivalled structural solutions we are keen to share our know-how with talented and enthusiastic students who target the leading sector of structural lightweight solutions and applied technologies - Formula One.
We take our responsibilities seriously. Whilst delivering engineering excellence, we also want to give something back to society. We do this by advising young professionals to achieve their goal - gaining an in-depth knowledge of engineering and mechanical approaches.
We are very excited to be sharing our knowledge and the outstanding expertise with the s3racing Team', said Phil Hall, Managing Director of Caterham Composites. 'This is a great opportunity for Caterham Composites to engage in Formula Student races and help a young, enthusiastic and passionate team in understanding the application of composites on a broader scale.
Speaking for the s3Racing team we are very proud of the relationship with Caterham Composites as an experienced company in structural lightweight solutions with a major focus on the chassis development', said Sven Brück, Head of Chassis, s3racing. 'Having established a collaboration with Caterham Composites makes us confident in achieving our goals. We herewith would like to take the opportunity and thank the team for their support!

About Speeding Scientists Siegen
The Speeding Scientists Siegen racing team is a nonprofit organization in which more than 30 active student members develop and build an electric racecar for Formula Student competition.
The complete development process, from concept and design to production of parts to the assembly and testing of the prototype will be designed by our members themselves. Core competencies include for instance control of electrical drives, power electronics and suspension system
Up to now the major focus was on steel tube frames. Recently we decided to develop a carbon fibre monocoque to profit of the specific advantages (stiffness and specific lightweight factor) in the season 2014.
